Humpback Limia (Limia Nigrofasciata)

Humpback Limia (Limia Nigrofasciata)

Unfortunately, as the male matures its body outline becomes less attractive. The black-edged dorsal fin enlarges, and also the forepart of the back develops a decided hump.

Body colour is blue-green, the upper component of the body being marked indistinctly with dark vertical bars. There might also be dark marks on the caudal fin. Females are somewhat lighter in colour, and attain a length of 2.5 inch, males only to about 2 inch. This species will eat soft green algae, which should be accessible as component of their regular diet.

These fish are active and peaceful. They breed readily at a temperature of about 73° F.
